Boondocks

Since Carley spent her birthday elk hunting we promised after the hunt was over we would take her and two friends to Boondocks. For those of you who have never been there before it's like a giant arcade.

Carley's birthday luck was clearly on her side. She hit the jackpot and won 1000 tickets. I'm so proud of her because she shared her winnings with her friends.

Boondocks has two, eighteen hole miniature golf courses.

These bumper boats squirt water and I kept telling the girls "don't get wet, don't get wet" but they didn't listen to me. They were soaked.

After Boondocks we went to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and had a hot glazed doughnut.

Bunco for Boobies

Bunco for Boobies was a fundraiser to earn money for the Susan G Koman 3 day walk. Stephanie participates in this 3 day, 60 mile walk which helps to raise money for the cure of breast cancer. She raised over $400.00. Stephanie is in the pink and black plaid shirt below.

22 Years

22 years ago Shane and I were married. It was one of the most wonderful days of my life. We got married at La Fontain in Layton, UT four days after my 18th birthday. Our wedding was everything that I could have imagined it would be. Everything was PERFECT!

September 30th 1988

The mariachi band was a surprise gift from Rene (who worked with Shane). Wow, to be serenaded to was AWESOME. The funny part is, we had no clue what he was singing.

Wow..I am 40

Do I look any older? To be honest, I don't feel any older.

On Saturday the night before my birthday we were going to dinner with the Thomas'. I like to eat around 4 or 5ish so we showed up at the Thomas' at 4. Mike and Shane had a drink, Jenn made popcorn, I am staving! Guess what? They were stalling.

Two hours later we finally decided to go to Famous Dave's. I love their wings. As I walked through the doors I notice Cassie, Kim, Brad, KyAnn, Checketts and Pleshette waiting for me. What a wonderful surprise!

KyAnn bought me a NSA apple pie to be funny because

1. I work at a pie manufacturing facility. I can have all the pies I want for free.
2. I hate apple pie and especially NSA (no sugar added) apple pie. YUCK!!

Here is the story of Shane's elk hunt from my view.

Lance (Shane's brother), Shane and I headed up hunting Wednesday after work. Courtney decided to stay with grandma Adams all weekend and Carley came up with Shane's other brother Brian on Friday.

Last month Shane placed mineral rocks out for the elk to lick. I happen to find this gesture extremely nice and weird at the same time. Nice because we would spend money to buy the elk a rock sucker and weird because its like we was giving them a treat before we hunt them. On Thursday the wind was blowing so hard that we were not able to hear if the elk were bugleing or not. We decided to go and see if there had been any activity on the mineral rocks. Guess what? There was, the rocks turn smooth and shiny where the elk has licked it.

Next to the mineral rock was an elk wallow. Wallows are a combination between a mud tub and a urinal.

This was my first ever elk wallow. I'm in my camo clothes so you might not be able to spot me. I will give you a hint, I'm standing next to the tree.

On Friday the real excitement began. We were able to track down a couple of herds and for the first time in my life I was able to hear an elk bugle only yards away. What an adrenaline rush! It's like a high for those of you who have not experienced it before.

Shane had stalked a herd and watched as an elk damaged this tree by rubbing it.

On Sunday the day Carley and I were leaving, Shane was successful! 6x6 bull elk. CONGRATULATIONS, YOU DID IT!

We had to cut the elk up on the mountain because it was to big and heavy to haul out.

I drove the RZR back to camp with the head tied on the back.

This was my first ever archery elk hunt and I loved it so much that next year I'm buying an archery spike elk tag.

A Weekend for the Labor'ers

Labor day weekend was spent on the Monroe Mountains with the Thomas', Shane's brother Lance and his wife and son.

On the drive down Courtney, Carley and I decided to make hats. The hat that I am modeling below is for Shane (duh, it's camo). I so badly wanted to wear this for the whole drive but Shane was too embarrassed and asked me to take it off.


Mid afternoon we would see smoke from the Twitchell fire that was burning on the Beaver Mountains.


Shane brother Lance had a spike bull elk tag and was successful with his hunt.

The elk was taken in the burn area so we had the challenge of trying lift, pull and drag through the fallen timber

The girls were so excited because Lance gave them the antlers that were still covered in velvet to keep.
